The 3 Reasons I’ll be Writing in Public for 30 Days. Starting Today.
I recently committed to a very public writing challenge that will see me — should I succeed — publish 30 pieces of content online in 30 days.
Here are the 3 reasons why this is important to me:
- A lot of my time is spent writing words for other people. It’s a part of my work that I adore. I get to learn new things from smart people with big ideas. But my ideas in my own name rarely see the light of day. I want to change that.
- I want to make a habit of it — writing something in my own name every single day. At the end of these 30 days, if I’ve done nothing more than that, I’ll consider it a win! This — for now at least — is all about the habit.
- I’ll be documenting the process of something that’s a big part of my life right now: streamlining my business interests beneath one umbrella brand. A commitment to writing about it will help clarify my thinking. How? Because writing — as I explain to clients — is the Ultimate Idea Refinery.
Over these coming days you can expect to read content on four main topics:
- Publishing
- Business
- Writing
- Design
These have significant overlap in my world, given I run a business which helps people to write, design, and publish what they know.
So that’s Day One. If you are reading this: thank you! I would of course love you to drop by and check on my progress — a little accountability never hurt anyone!
As someone who writes for a living, it should not be a tough nut to crack.
But this is me stepping from behind the curtain.
I’m genuinely excited. I’ll be honest: I’m also a little nervous.
Let’s do this!
